Food for thought – Ramping it up

CAREGIVING: On Monday I was supposed to take Kathy to the dentist for a cleaning but I cancelled it. I just couldn’t go through the transfer problems I have had when we get back home. She just can’t go up those few stairs any more. But over the weekend I ordered an inexpensive ramp from Harbor Freight to get her up… Read more →

A Care Plan for Kathy

CAREGIVING:  It has been over a week and a half since my last blurb and a lot has happened. A lot is the same too. Random falls and close calls. Design work and lots of laundry. CAREGIVING: Tonight was about as rough as they’ve come. (So far.) Kathy is in bed with her clothes still on. But we are fortunate we got her there and didn’t need an ambulance or the police. Today we had our annual eye checkups at Pioneer Valley Eye Associates. We have been going to that office at Holyoke Medical Center for years.… Read more →

It’s snow fun

CAREGIVING:  We had a pretty good-sized snow storm on Thursday. I cancelled our aide Dilcia because I knew there was no place for her to park. Greater Springfield Seniors wanted to send a nurse to help develop the new treatment plan for Kathy. She will be getting more help with showers and companion care. The nurse had already postponed until… Read more →
