My Two Cents Worth

MUSIC: This is one of my favorite tunes to play on the guitar. I was given a basic book of jazz guitar chords when I was photographing the great bass player Carole Kay, and one of the first exercises was this progression. I kept playing it and words came to me. This version has me doing most everything including my impersonation of the Mill’s Brothers on vocals. John McLaughlin: guitar solo (not THE John McLaughlin BTW, a different one)

And last a version I tried live with one take and one mic as a folky version rather than jazz. I used an open tuning and it makes it a different song.

Any proceeds or tips from this song will benefit the good work of the Huntington’s Disease program at the University of Connecticut Health Center where my wife Kathy gets treatment and I get support. UConn is doing stem cell research and helping patients and families like ours. Huntington’s Disease is the genetic disease that took the life of Woody Guthrie. It is neurodegenerative disorder that causes problems with emotional control, memory and movement, and eventually leads to death.
