New song: It just depends

This song, “It all depends” goes with my last post about the two-year anniversary. I had actually intended to record a video at the lighthouse but with the drizzle, I gave up on that idea.

I started to write some words and phrases in the spring. I thought about dating. And wondered what that would be like. The song mentions that I started to join a dating site but quit halfway through. That is true. But the reason is that they wanted me to say where I live. The thought of broadcasting my availability to the small town of Hampden was scary. So it is on hold.

This is performed on my new little travel guitar, a Rondo SX Trav 1 and recorded on my phone. I also recorded the audio on a Zoom recorder. I was able to sync the audio pretty close. I’ll probably redo it with my Martin and my camera but I wanted to put something out. Marty was asleep on the floor but you can hear the cars going by.

It just depends

Your coat’s still in the closet.  There’s a purse inside the door.

There’s still a box, with your things, up on the second floor.

OR  Your ring is by the bedside. Your boots are on the floor.

I still live in the same old house. I still have your old hound.

Every day he walks in here, to see if you’re around.

I still have a sense of humor. I still have a few good friends

I’m still easy-going. But sometimes it just depends.

I smile about the good times. (And) shake my head about the bad.

What is my next chapter? Now that a few years have passed.

I tried to join a dating site, but I gave up halfway through

It kept asking what I want?  (But) I kept describing you.

I wrote:

I’ve got a sense of humor. I have a few good friends

We both came with lots of baggage. We unpacked it over time

Now it fits, in one suitcase, what was ours is just mine.

The sun came through the curtains, onto your side of the bed.

Drinking my first cup of coffee, I remembered what you said…

You said: “You’ve got a sense of humor.

We’ve got a bunch of  friends

And you’re easy going.

Although sometimes it just depends.

But sometimes it just depends.

We rejoice with those who rejoice. Weep with those who weep…

We love you Peter. Kathy and everyone as well.

What a great song Peter. It is just so touching and from the heart. You have a lot of talent. Good luck with the dating site.

So beautiful! Thank you for sharing your talent/sense of humor/true love experience with the world (although my eyes are really sore and I can’t even open them right now).

I really like it. You are amazing. I think you are good date material. I’m sure Kathy knows you’ll never find another person to love like you did her, just someone different. Everyone deserves a life full of friends and loves.

Brought tears to my eyes! I think of you and Kathy often when I drive out that way! She was a wonderful woman and can never be replaced, but you will find someone in time to share your life with and she will be looking down happy for you!
