Installing Kathy’s exhibit

dscn0208I guess the biggest news is that I was able to install Kathy’s exhibit last Thursday and overall it looks good for a library show. But I know Kathy would be proud of it and probably embarrassed at the attention. Here are some photos of it. At the reception on September 17th, there will be a few sculptural items there for that day and the pieces with lights will be plugged in.

I am bringing in a little scrapbook with some press releases and letters she received. There was also a videotape of Kathy discussing a piece of art that was sold to MassMutual. I had to hunt around for a video cassette machine that would play it. I figured the library would still have one but everything is DVD now. A friend loaned me one and I sent for an adapter to connect it to my computer. Once I get it digitized I will put a link to it. It was nice hearing her voice again. It has been almost a year and really it was a few years before that she stopped being able to talk.

dscn0209Setting it Up. The actual delivery and set up took most of the day. I loaded the Rav4 with one load of art the day before. There were a few pieces I intended to bring but gave up on. One piece called “Plastics” was going to be hard to display and it is always shedding buttons, bottle caps, and army men. I was going to hang one section of it on the wall. Another large painting could have been tied to the roof of the car. But it was just my luck that in the middle of a drought, it was drizzling that day. I still had more than enough art for the walls. In fact a few days before I found three additional pieces in one of our closets. Two of them made it into the show.
