A Marriage of Convenience

MUSIC:  In my little town of Hampden, there used to be a little Cumberland Farms variety store down on Main Street. Kathy and I would buy milk and ice cream there. It was a short walk with our basset hounds. I noticed that when this one kid was working, his girlfriend was always there too. She was all dressed up like it was a big date. She was proud to be with her manager-in-training boyfriend. It seemed like a romantic little life. Walking home I gave them names and a story. This version was produced by Sam Reynolds, a friend I ‘met’ on SoundCloud. He’s one of the closest friends, I’ve never met. It also features the voice and whistling of Tracy Grammer and the mandolin playing of Jim Henry. I played guitar and performed some midi parts on it as well as singing. Available from CDbaby, Amazon and iTunes but Bandcamp is preferred 🙂

Any proceeds or tips from this song will benefit the good work of the Huntington’s Disease program at the University of Connecticut Health Center where my wife Kathy gets treatment and I get support. UConn is doing stem cell research and helping patients and families like ours. Huntington’s Disease is the genetic disease that took the life of Woody Guthrie. It is neurodegenerative disorder that causes problems with emotional control, memory and movement, and eventually leads to death.
